THIMUN and World Forum The Hague extend collaboration with a three-year contract
World Forum The Hague and The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) have renewed their long-standing partnership by signing a new three-year contract. With this agreement, THIMUN, which has been organizing its annual Model United Nations conference at the World Forum for decades, remains a dedicated partner of the conference venue in The Hague.
THIMUN is one of the largest Model United Nations conferences in the world. Each year, it brings together thousands of high school students from around the globe in The Hague to discuss international issues and formulate solutions.
During the 57th edition of THIMUN, which will take place next year, a NATO Summit simulation will be held for the first time alongside the usual UN simulations. This is a unique addition to the conference, particularly as the real NATO Summit will also be held at the World Forum in 2025.
“We are thrilled about our collaboration with World Forum for the next three years,” says Esmeralda van der Hout, Managing Director of the THIMUN Foundation. “With their expertise and dedication to high-quality events, World Forum provides the perfect venue for our annual conference. Additionally, they support us in realizing our vision to make an impact. Together, we strive to create experiences that connect, inspire, and contribute to positive change for our participants.
The global THIMUN conference has been a staple in the The Hague region for decades. Thanks to the unique location, THIMUN and The Hague reinforce each other in positioning international events. By partnering with World Forum in this internationally vibrant setting, we provide the next generation with a realistic experience and a taste of the work of the UN.”
Mariëlle Vavier, councillor for Poverty, Inclusion, Healthcare, and International Affairs, adds: “What began as a modest initiative has grown into a recurring event on our city’s calendar. We are proud that THIMUN annually teaches thousands of students to collaborate and empathize with different perspectives. Working towards a peaceful, just — in short, better world — is not reserved for specialists and has no minimum age.”
“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with THIMUN,” says Michiel Middendorf, General Manager of World Forum The Hague. “This event brings international students together and perfectly aligns with The Hague as the city of peace and justice. We look forward to welcoming this valuable conference again in the coming years.”
The renewed collaboration underscores the shared ambitions of THIMUN, the Municipality of The Hague, and the World Forum to inspire young people worldwide and stimulate dialogue on global issues.
