World Forum The Hague and The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) have extended their long-standing partnership by signing a new three-year contract. This means that THIMUN, which has been organizing its annual Model United Nations conference at the World Forum for decades, will remain a permanent partner of the Hague conference location.
THIMUN is one of the largest Model United Nations conferences in the world. Every year, it brings together thousands of high school students from all over the world in The Hague to discuss international issues and formulate solutions.
During the 57th edition of THIMUN, which will take place next year, a NATO summit simulation will be held for the first time, in addition to the usual UN simulations. This is a unique addition to the conference, especially since in 2025 the real NATO summit will also be organized in the World Forum.
“We are delighted to be working with the World Forum for the next three years,” said Esmeralda van der Hout, Managing Director of the THIMUN Foundation. “With their expertise and dedication to high-quality events, the World Forum provides the perfect venue for our annual conference. They also support us in realizing our vision to make an impact. Together, we strive to create experiences that connect, inspire and contribute to positive change for our attendees.
The global THIMUN conference has been a household name in the Hague region for decades. Thanks to the unique location, THIMUN and The Hague can strengthen each other in profiling international events. By working together with the World Forum in this internationally vibrant environment, we offer the new generation a realistic experience and let them get a taste of the work of the UN.”
Marielle Vavier, alderman for Poverty, Inclusion, Care and International Affairs, adds: “What once started as a modest initiative has grown into a regular event on our city’s calendar. We are proud that during THIMUN, thousands of students learn to work together and to put themselves in someone else’s shoes every year. Working towards a peaceful, just — in short, a better world — is not reserved for specialists and has no minimum age.”
“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with THIMUN,” says Michiel Middendorf, General Manager of World Forum The Hague. “This event brings together international students and ties in perfectly with The Hague as a city of peace and justice. We look forward to welcoming this valuable conference again in the coming years.”
The extended collaboration underlines the shared ambitions of THIMUN, the Municipality of The Hague and the World Forum to inspire young people worldwide and stimulate dialogue on global issues.
